Experience
I am a licensed psychologist in New York and New Jersey with a specialty in conducting neuropsychological and psychoeducational assessments. I earned my undergraduate degree in Pychology at Yeshiva University in New York City and a Psy.D. in School-Community Psychology from Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY. I was trained extensively in psychological assessment at Hofstra’s PERC Clinic and received further training working with the team at Great Neck’s (NY) prestigious North Middle School. I have experience working with individuals with learning, intellectual, and developmental challenges, having served as a school psychologist for the National Jewish Council for Disabilities/Yachad for many years.
My experience includes fire-risk and mental health evaluations for ACS in New York; court psychological evaluations for the Westchester County Department of Social Services; and child custody cases.
The specialty in psychological and neuropsychological assessment was fostered through my curiosity in understanding individual’s academic challenges and how to best help those in need. I take a holistic approach throughout the evaluative process, tailoring the testing battery and recommendations toward each individual client. While there are patterns and similarities evident in our client population, I believe it is important to understand the needs of the individual and how they can best be served and helped. I also understand that evaluations may often focus on what is “wrong” with the individual and so it is critical to highlight what is “right” as well including strengths and skills.
I work with individuals who have learning disabilities such as reading, writing, and math disorders; developmental challenges such as autism and cognitive/intellectual deficits; and ADHD. It is important to me that each client feels heard and understood. To that end I employ a client centered approach. My background in CBT further fosters my commitment to each individual I evaluate and my understanding of their academic, cognitive, social, and emotional challenges.
